Happy Little Things

There are certainly a lot of happy faces floating around Bulimba at lunch time these days.  The reason for this contented community?  Could it be the fact that Happy Little Dumplings has made Bulimba their permanent base?  Perhaps so.

So what’s all the fuss about?  What was once a parking bay full of dumpster bins has been transformed into an oasis of dumpling devotees’ idea of heaven.  Slide down the side of Oxford Street, past Mugged and the dog wash and there you will find a bright green patch of ‘grass’ which immediately lets you know that these chicks think a little bit outside of the box.

The place isn’t grand but owners Candice and Mellita have made the space somewhere  that you will want to return time and again.  There’s plenty of high chairs available and even a too cute tee pee for the younger crowd that was a big hit with my tribe.

And what about the food?  Fresh, fresh, fresh.  Each dumpling is made with superb produce that tastes just as it should.  You can choose between traditional yum cha or some different fusion flavours that won’t disappoint.  Predominantly steamed, the dumplings are a healthy lunch that will leave you satisfied and happy.  The only issue is which of the sensational dipping sauces to put on which?

For now you will have to be content with this as a lunch time love affair only.  Although… I have a sneaking suspicion that if enough pressure is applied, the HLD team will have to open for dinner too.  Watch this space!
