The Jetty Oxford

The JettyWhen it comes to Location, Location, Location, The Jetty Oxford, at the tip of Oxford St by the ferry terminal, has my vote as the best possible spot to sit and enjoy a breather and watch the world go by.  There’s nothing like sitting back, enjoying a frosty glass of crisp, white wine and enjoying the sight of revellers racing for the ferry heading to the city, smug in the knowledge that you can stumble home in a matter of minutes when the time comes.

After its recent, super-speedy renovation it is back and ready for it’s re-purposing as more of a night haunt although by day it is still one of the area’s most popular coffee stops.  The Jetty Oxford  is busy from opening time to close with a steady stream of customers from early morning commuters catching citycats, after school-drop off mother’s meetings, business lunches and then sundowners into dinner.  The new bar area has created a few more seats to accomodate our passion for the place although it has to be asked if more ‘bar’ area might have been a smart idea?

The food is excellent value, expertly cooked and presented with well-trained, friendly staff waiting on tables.  Occasionally you can find your self waiting for orders at peak times but the vibe is casual enough that you can forgive them the odd lapse without holding it against them.  My particular favourite is the squid which is zingy, salty and melts in your mouth – perfect for sharing and accompanied by a long tall cocktail.

The Jetty Oxford is a firm favourite with locals and a destination in its own right.  Try it for a catch up with a friend, a romantic dinner of a party night with a group – the management are happy to help and open to ideas.  You can expect a Bulimba Business event there very soon!
